This is my second read by Derek. And frankly there is not too much I don’t like about his books. Quick reads, entrepreneurial focused, and no BS. He shares his mistakes which I love – I mean the I always win in Vegas stories just grow old over time. He also happens to espouse a world view of the small entrepreneur I find refreshing in the all too common everything is Disney or McDonalds view point. I mean come on – 2/3 of all new jobs will be created by a small business owner. And every, big business had a start as a small one – that’s the story worth hearing!
This book does a good job straddling the new tech world we live in, with the rugged individualism any values driven family/person can relate to. Derek’s world view that someone might find value from his book – 10 years of experience in a 100 page read resonates strongly with how we try to serve our own clients; leveraging the wisdom of a team of experts and other successful families to further their family pursuits – just love that message/story/belief.
What caught my eye: When you’re onto something great, it won’t feel like revolution. It’ll feel like uncommon sense.
