Rating: Bogey
It’s funny how I stumbled onto this book. I was actually working with my coach about the very same principle then on another tangent while searching for the most recent work of Charles Koch, when I seem to stumble onto this book by some divine intervention they have the same last name….go figure.
Well – I wish I had some great or unique take on this book, but I don’t. Frankly for me it was a disappointment, and I struggle to decide if it was par worthy, or simply a bogey. On the con side – I was really hoping for this work to dig deeper on the WHY the principle exists, and for it to cover some of the dual edge sword elements, or how/actually the principle doesn’t work 100% of the time.
On the pro side, this book is enlightening to its core principles many applications. 80% of a carpet’s wear is on 20% of its surface, or the common business, economics view. All good parts if you’re not familiar with it. Yet, this book dragged on, and really would not be a book I would pass onto a business client. For me, this is a skimmer or library read at best.
What caught my eye: If you can identify where your firm is getting back more than it is putting in, you can up the stakes and make a killing.
