The Five Dysfunctions of a Team

Rating: BirdiefiveDysfunctions

There really isn’t a book written by Patrick I probably wouldn’t like. Yet, I am selective. This is a good book, especially for anyone in a leadership position, and/or for anyone who conducts meetings. A parable layout, walks you through a turnaround company scenario – yet can be applied to anyone who wants to improve their collaboration on so many levels.

A caveat I’d lay out though, this book does give some real life scenarios including firing the wrong person in the wrong seat, a character rich person who gracefully steps down from a position, etc. For many, with not enough authority, I can imagine this book granting a lot of frustrations. Lastly, at times to speed up the story, it also lacks some teeth on tactical examples of what to say and do in improving situations.

What caught my eye: It’s not about what I want. It’s about you. You have to decide what is more important; helping the team win, or advancing your career.

Are you ready to start a new path?
