Brene’ Brown is a researcher at heart. She explores these critical generational patterns we’ve all been raised on – shame, not measuring up, perfectionism, anxiety, etc.
I appreciate that there are several chapters I get total engrossed in – hearing the ‘gremlins’ in your head or feeling like that little boy who is hurt, and doesn’t feel worthy. For those alone, I enjoy her writings, and like this book particularly.
On the counter side – Brene’ often writes as a reporter would – sharing stories, but not the meaning or solution. Further, as for a path, or sequential thought, this book (and most of her writings) leaves you on your own – which for me can be frustrating. Lastly, as a mixed point – Brene’ often writes from and to a female perspective – which frankly is refreshing in our all to ‘male’ driven world.
What caught my eye: Perfectionism is self-destructive simply because there is no such thing as perfect.
