Love the intention of this book, as I am always looking to personally grow. Having three boys, with one “queen” in the house has its challenges for sure. The trend in books of late, to drag you through all the negative statistics out there (1 parent families, drug abuse, neglect, bullying), just gets old to me. To spend about half of the book on the problems of the world leaves very little room for the solutions. Heh, I’m buying the book because I already recognize life can be hard!
Again – nothing earth shattering here. Frankly, in today’s writings I only seem to connect with books that speak to me, my family, and the times we are in right now. I know that is narrow, yet that is the angle I come from. This book just lacks real dialogue, real scripts of examples that I go, “yep, that’s me”. Then of course, you want to hear how the technique or approach they use leads to more character rich, productive young adults!
What caught my eye: a boy spends forty-five and a half hours, or more time than he would spend at a full time job, with either television, computer, music, or MP3.
