I’m finishing up my deep dive into a writer I have some connection with. I just can’t help myself when Amazon recommends other books, and I can get them for .01!
That being said – my reading of Larry have been a steady decline. This one for sure, quickly jumps into the Financial Pornography category. Again – I have a laser like focus on the content as an advisor, and further try to assess everything from the stand point of would I readily hand this book out to my clients, my family, or someone struggling with planning. Again, for me, this one is a NO once again.
It’s not that there is nothing redeeming in this book. Where I think it fails as do most financial writings, is the massive conflict or confusion they create. How does one address financial planning, but not mention cash flow or budgeting? How do you write a book about financial planning, but use 90% of the book to write about investing? Sure seems to say, investing is the route to success, not living beneath your means, savings, investing, paying down debt, and developing independent children.
What caught my eye: You don’t have to play the game of active management. You can earn market like returns, with low cost index funds……you win by not playing.
